The Christian Message

In daily relationships, in the school atmosphere, in our stated and implied teachings, we attempt to bring the Word of God into contact with students and families.

Religious Teachings

Lutheran teachings are the basis for our religious instructional materials. Families from other Christian denominations find that our religion classes, classroom devotions, and chapel services support their efforts to raise strong Christian children. At those points where Lutheran teachings differ from a child’s home church we continue to respect the child while acknowledging those differences.
Training For Life

We are officially recognized by the State of Missouri and accredited by two agencies. Our intention is to train students to be Christian citizens of American society and the world in which we live.

Academics

To benefit our world, and to make full use of God’s gifts to each child, we set high standards of academic work. We provide quality instruction and a low teacher-pupil ratio to help the child meet high standards. We take pride in our students’ success.

The Child First

Although the school serves the needs of society, of parents, and of the congregation, our top priority remains serving the needs of the child. We believe that today’s child needs caring and nurturing relationships, sound academic training, and the spiritual experiences of worship, fellowship, service, and witness. We want to help the child take his or her special place under God in our society.

Lutheran schools have a long, strong tradition of quality Christian education. Lutheran schools are sought by parents because of the academic excellence our schools have provided in our country for more than 300 years. Students receive a quality education featuring caring Christian teachers and high standards.

When Our Savior organized in 1962 as a member congregation of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, the founders intended from the start to establish a church sponsored school. The first kindergarten class began in 1964. Since then we’ve added grade levels, students, staff, classrooms, and programs. Our enrollment of about 200 characterizes us as a small school, although we expect that enrollment to grow.

Our teachers are professionals whose training and certification marks them as “real” teachers. They are caring people. They are people who operate professionally from a foundation of their own personal Christian faith and value system. They are joined by an instructional assistant, a special education consultant, a nurse, and a child care staff. We can call on the support services of local, state, and national educational networks.

Our students come from various backgrounds. About half of them are members of our church. The other half are from various churches, or have no church home. They live in Fenton and the surrounding areas in St. Louis and Jefferson counties. They score well above the national average on standard achievement tests and graduate well prepared for any high school. They come for various reasons, but their families have at least one thing in common. They care enough about their children’s education to make the extra commitments necessary for quality schooling.
